DOGE Agent: Jordan Wick

DOGE Agent: Jordan Wick

Corporate Affiliations: Software engineer at Waymo; Founder of start-up Intercept

DOGE Deployment: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

  • Wick’s official title within the Trump administration, if he has one, is as yet unclear. WIRED reported on February 8 that he was part of the DOGE team with access to the CFPB’s systems.
  • According to Bloomberg, the DOGE team, including Wick, had obtained broad permissions to alter the CFPB’s systems by the evening of Friday, February 7. The same night, the CFPB’s Twitter account was deleted, and Elon Musk tweeted “RIP CFPB.”

WICK PREVIOUSLY WORKED AS A SOFTWARE ENGINEER FOR WAYMO, WHICH IS UNDER INVESTIGATION BY NHTSA

  • Wick previously worked as a software engineer at self-driving car company Waymo, which is owned by Google’s parent company. In May 2024, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into the company. Some of the incidents being investigated involved Waymo’s cars colliding “with clearly visible objects that a competent driver would be expected to avoid.” DOGE boss Elon Musk has indicated that he wants to speed NHTSA approvals of self-driving cars.

WICK’S Y COMBINATOR-BACKED STARTUP IS LOOKING FOR A LOW-PAID INTERN TO WORK REMOTELY AS DOGE SEEKS TO ELIMINATE REMOTE WORK FOR FEDERAL WORKERS

  • As Wick works with a team to eliminate the possibility of remote or hybrid work for federal workers, Wick’s own startup, Intercept, has a job posting for a remote role—an internship paying as little as $10/hour.
  • The startup is backed by Y Combinator, a startup accelerator currently chaired by Garry Tan, who has defended DOGE’s young engineers online. Sam Altman, who has already tied himself in with the second Trump administration despite his feud with Elon Musk, also once served as president of Y Combinator.

IN NOVEMBER, WICK BOOSTED MILEI’S ARGENTINA AS A MODEL FOR THE US—WHEN THE LATEST NEWS SHOWED A MAJORITY OF ARGENTINIANS IN POVERTY

  • Wick’s Twitter account is currently private. But using the Internet Archive, RDP was able to reconstruct some of Wick’s tweets, including multiple where he defended Javier Milei’s Argentina—much in the same vein as his boss. In one November 22 post defending Milei, Wick simply posted two links. One link was to an article about how inflation in the country was down. The other was a link to a Perplexity AI query, where Wick had entered “How well is the milei [sic] plan working in Argentina.” That Wick’s own AI search pulled up an article showing that the country’s poverty rate had jumped to 53% in September did not seem to change his mind.
  • Wick’s defense of Milei also came just a week after Milei’s Argentina cast the sole vote against a UN resolution denouncing violence against women.

As Elon Musk’s DOGE continues to tear through agencies with little oversight or transparency, the Revolving Door Project is publishing profiles of reported DOGE employees: who they are, where they came from, and any conflicts of interest that might make their unfettered access to the federal government dangerous to the public. Read them all here.
