SPACEX HAS BEEN SUED FOR MAINTAINING A CULTURE OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT
- Lawsuits have accused the company of a workplace culture plagued by sexual harassment and racism.
- The social culture at SpaceX has been likened to a college fraternity. It led eight employees to file a civil rights lawsuit against the company and Musk, in which they claimed, per Bloomberg, “men at the company subjected women to crude jokes that echoed Musk’s tweets, openly stared at their chests, relentlessly asked them out and declared them biologically incapable of being engineers. Rather than punishing the misconduct, the fired employees allege, Musk and other executives punished those who called for change.”
- The employees who filed the civil rights case were fired by SpaceX. The NLRB sued SpaceX for the terminations, while “alleging that the company illegally interrogated, surveilled and retaliated against workers.” The case was temporarily blocked in May 2024, though it is still ongoing.
- While working for OPM, Hanna appears to still be doing work for SpaceX. On February 28, 2025, Hannah made a LinkedIn post telling people to “Join our HR team,” referring to SpaceX. “If interested and have questions send me a message!” she wrote in the post.
WHEN HANNA WORKED AT AMAZON, THE COMPANY WAS ACCUSED OF “SICK BRUTALITY” AND “RUTHLESSLY INTIMIDATING WORKERS.” SHE APPEARS TO HAVE WORKED ON AN AMAZON SERVICE THAT RESULTED IN WORKERS FILING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
- When Hanna was working in HR at the company, Amazon was already enforcing a highly calculated productivity regimen onto its employees through constant surveillance and control.
- The company has since accrued many workplace safety and labor violations. They have also been found to engage in aggressive union-busting.
- On her LinkedIn, Hanna appears to indicate that, at Amazon, she primarily dealt with staffing “Prime Now” buildings (Prime Now is essentially a grocery delivery service). In October 2015, while Hanna worked at Amazon, Prime Now drivers filed a class action lawsuit against Amazon alleging that Amazon misclassified them as independent contractors.
- The drivers alleged they were paid at an hourly rate, their shifts were controlled by Amazon, and that they were not allowed to decline deliveries, but the company misclassified them to avoid paying minimum wage and overtime, in addition to a host of other potential labor rights violations.
