Today the Revolving Door Project and Fight For The Future released Congressional Appropriators & Big Tech, a special report detailing financial ties, revolving door moves, and other conflicts of interest between congressional appropriators (and their staff) and monopolistic companies like the Big Tech giants.
The report, available to read in full at this link, tracks revolving door moves made by congressional staff who work on appropriations issues. A staggering number of such staff represented Big Tech companies before or after taking on congressional roles. And as the Appendix of the report notes, those revolving door moves and the other conflicts of interest detailed in the report are particularly concerning in light of the Department of Justice Antitrust Division’s recent 20 percent budget cut, a boon to monopolists seeking to weaken antitrust enforcement.
The report launch was covered by the New York Post on April 16th in the piece, “Congressional panels that slashed DOJ antitrust funds have cozy Big Tech ties: watchdogs.”
