Revolving Door Project Calls Out Sean Duffy’s Abysmal Track Record Over The Seven Months He Was Filming Reality TV Show
Over the past seven months, there have been 3 commercial airline crashes resulting in 11 deaths, along with numerous near-misses and deadly small plane crashes. Rather than addressing the ongoing deterioration of America’s transportation infrastructure, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy has been on vacation and filming a reality TV show with his family, all seemingly paid for by the very companies he should be regulating.
“Despite sustained shortages of air traffic controllers, Congressional Republicans leading a historic defunding of the TSA that ground the nation’s airports to a halt, and numerous commercial airline crashes, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy has decided to abandon his Senate-confirmed role in favor of attempting to relive his glory days of being a reality TV star” said Revolving Door Project Executive Director Jeff Hauser.
“While in office, the little that Sean Duffy has accomplished has been in pursuit of lowering safety standards, eliminating consumer protection rules, and opening the door for drones to flood our airspaces. With Duffy in office, airline lobbyists have found remarkable success in rolling back programs to ensure passengers faced with significant flight delays receive compensation. It’s little wonder, then, why companies like Boeing, United Airlines, and the airline-backed US Travel Association would be willing to foot the bill for the “Great American Road Trip,” the pretentious name he’s bestowed upon his extended vacation” continued Hauser.
“But while corruption like this has become commonplace under the Trump administration, that doesn’t make it any less egregious. Nor does Duffy’s remarkable mishandling of airline safety. Under the past seven months of his leadership—the time period when he was reportedly filming his TV show—there have been three commercial airline crashes resulting in eleven deaths, and numerous near-misses. Duffy has proven unable, and uninterested in fixing the ongoing safety concerns in the US airline industry despite the multiple tragedies that have occurred under his watch. His continued incompetence and indifference to the vital job with which he has been entrusted will inevitably lead to more deaths and destruction.” concluded Hauser.
