TRACKER: Aviation Disasters And Trump Administration Attacks On Air Safety

Since the start of the Trump administration, there have been no less than 213 aviation disasters, killing a total of 429 people. The American Airlines crash on January 29, 2025 at Reagan National Airport marked the first fatal commercial crash in the United States since 2009. This tracker will be continuously updated to reflect any further cuts to these federal agencies, as well as any aviation-related disasters.

Highlights from Vampire Vought’s Congressional Testimony

Last week, Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought appeared before the House and Senate Budget committees for the first time during his tenure. As we argued last week, both hearings were a rare opportunity for Congress to shine the light on a notoriously shadowy figure, especially given Vought’s persistent ducking and overall disdain for Congressional authority. It wasn’t exactly the spectacle we hoped for—Vought will likely remain an unknown name to the vast majority of Americans despite having a hand in nearly all of their hardship caused by this administration.

Oligarchs and the Trump Admin: Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are billionaires who made their initial fortune from a 2004 lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg, accusing him of stealing their idea in the creation of Facebook. The Winklevoss twins have since expanded their fortunes through an $11 million purchase of Bitcoin in 2013, founding the venture capital firm Winklevoss Capital, and founding cryptocurrency exchange Gemini. In June 2024, the Winklevosses each tweeted an endorsement of Trump’s candidacy and donated $1 million in Bitcoin to his campaign.
